06UX & layout recommendations
- Sticky top nav with scrolled-state shrink. Dark transparent on home (over hero), light on interior pages.
- Hero on home is full-bleed dark with a Hyderabad-context photo, scrim and grain. Stats live inline as the foot of the hero.
- Section pattern: left-rail eyebrow + section number; right column holds H2 (with italic-serif accent phrase) and body.
- All grids use one-pixel hairlines (var(--rule)) rather than card shadows, for the editorial feel.
- Subtle scroll reveals via IntersectionObserver — no parallax, no automatic stat counting (kept restrained per ICAI tone).
- FAQ accordion on services; single-item-open behaviour.
- Form: bottom-rule fields, no boxes; client-side validation with inline error notes; status line for confirmation.
- Mobile: nav collapses to burger; multi-column grids fall to single column; hero corners hide; stats split 2×2.
- Photography: dark Hyderabad architectural shot on hero. No photographs of staff in the firm (per ICAI — photographs are restricted and easily misleading). Team cards use monogram initials instead.
07ICAI compliance — what we followed
Published in accordance with the Council Guidelines of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for member firms' websites. The substantive rules we followed:
- No claims of "expert", "specialist", "experienced" in promotional terms; no superlatives ("best", "leading", "top", "premier", "industry leaders"). Where the firm has practice depth (NPO taxation, ITAT, GST litigation, M&A, startups), it is described factually — "a sustained practice", "the firm has developed depth" — not with quality claims.
- No comparison with other firms; no boasting about quality.
- No listing of client names, logos or branded testimonials. No case studies referencing identified clients.
- No publication of fees or fee schedules.
- No solicitation language; the site is structured as a "pull" resource for clients who arrive on their own.
- No banner advertisements, third-party ads, or hit-counters visible to the public.
- Disclaimer present on every page footer, plainly stated.
- Memberships and registrations referenced factually (ICAI, SIRC, Peer Reviewed) without exaggeration.
- Use of staff photographs avoided; monogram initials used on team cards instead.
- Newsletter framed as a quarterly compliance digest — informational, not promotional.

09Publishing a new blog post
There is no CMS attached to this site — each article is a hand-written HTML file. That sounds heavy, but the article template handles the heavy lifting; each new post is roughly a 10-minute job for someone comfortable editing HTML.
Template
resources/article-template.html — a fully styled article with [REPLACE: …] tags wherever content needs to change.
Sample
resources/article-non-profit-it-act-2025.html — a complete worked example to imitate. Linked from the Featured slot on resources.html.
Stylesheet
assets/article.css — article-specific typography, TOC, callouts, tables, pull quotes. Load order: styles.css then article.css.
Workflow — one new article
- Duplicate
resources/article-template.html and rename it: resources/article-<short-slug>.html (e.g. article-gst-input-credit-2026.html).
- Replace every
[REPLACE: …] tag in the new file — title, deck, meta tags, author, topic, body sections, TOC, related notes, etc.
- Keep the HTML structure and CSS class names intact. The look comes from the classes; rewriting the body content is enough.
- Open
resources.html and add a new card in .article-grid linking to the new file. Move older cards down or remove them.
- (Optional) Update the "Related notes" block at the foot of nearby articles to surface the new one.
Content building blocks available in the template
.lead-para — italic serif opener, sets up the question.
h2 with <span class="ix">01</span> — major section heading with index numeral.
h3 — sub-section heading.
ul / ol — bulleted and numbered lists. Bullets use copper markers.
.callout with label / heading / body — for caveats, citations and references.
table — for side-by-side comparisons (e.g. old statute vs new).
blockquote with <cite> — pull quote; use at most once per article.
.article-end-disclaimer — keep on every article. ICAI requires.
Embedding decks from Gamma, Canva, etc.
The Resources page has dedicated slots for embedded content (Gamma decks, Canva designs, Pitch presentations, Slides.com, Google Slides). Look for the "Presentations & visual notes" section.
- In
resources.html, each <article class="embed-card"> contains an .embed-frame with a placeholder block. Replace that placeholder with the iframe code from your service.
- Gamma: open the deck → Share → Public → Embed tab → copy iframe.
- Canva: Share → More → Embed → copy embed code.
- Pitch / Slides.com / Google Slides: use the service's "Publish to web → Embed" option.
- The frame is locked to 16:9 aspect ratio. Update
.embed-frame { aspect-ratio: … } in the page <style> block to change.
- To add more slots, duplicate the
<article class="embed-card"> block.
If a CMS becomes worth the overhead later
If the firm ends up publishing more than four or five articles a month, hand-editing HTML stops being efficient. At that point, sensible upgrades — in order of effort:
- Markdown + static site generator (Eleventy, Astro, Hugo) — authors write
.md files, the site rebuilds automatically. Preserves the current design completely.
- Headless CMS (Sanity, Contentful, Strapi) — editorial team uses a web admin; the existing layout is wired to fetch from the CMS.
- WordPress — heavier, but the editorial workflow is the most familiar. The current design would be re-implemented as a custom theme.
For now, the HTML-template workflow is the lowest-friction route.
10Open items for the firm to supply
- Final office address, telephone and email (placeholders: Hitech City Hyderabad · +91 40 2355 6713 · mail@hkassociates.in).
- Team biographies for Mr. Harish Kara (Founder), Mr. Ch Ravi Shanker (Associate), CA Suvidha Mylavaram, CA Yamuna Karki and CA Harsha Ramayanam are taken from the firm's existing site — review for ICAI compliance before publishing.
- Embedded map (Google Maps / OpenStreetMap iframe).
- Real content for the six recent resource notes; final compliance calendar PDF.
- Confirmation of newsletter delivery service (Mailchimp, Buttondown, etc.) and form action endpoint.
- Final ICAI Peer Review certificate reference (currently shown as a generic label).
- Optional: official ICAI member-firm artwork (to be supplied by firm — not recreated here for trademark reasons).
