Who we are

Section 01

A practice built on accuracy, confidentiality and the long view.

Harish Kara & Associates is a chartered accountancy firm headquartered in Hyderabad, with a practice spanning audit, taxation and advisory work for clients across India. Founded in 2007, the firm has grown into a medium-sized practice — the principal, qualified CA associates and article assistants — large enough to handle complex engagements with depth, and structured to keep a senior in the room throughout.

Our preference is to do considered work well. Whoever first sits with a client is the one who stays with them.

Practice areas with depth

Section 02·5

Five areas the firm has cultivated over the years, alongside its general practice. Engaged on regularly enough that we know the questions before they are asked.

Where the work has built up depth.

01

Not-for-profit & charitable trust taxation

A sustained practice

Audit, taxation and registration work for charitable trusts, Section 8 companies and societies — including 12A / 80G applications and renewals, Form 10B and 10BB audits, FCRA filings and CSR receipt accounting.

12A · 80G · 10B · FCRA · CSR · Section 8

02

Income tax litigation & ITAT representation

Through Tribunal level

Representation through the assessment, appeal and tribunal levels — before the Assessing Officer, Commissioner (Appeals) and the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal — for taxpayers under scrutiny on substantive matters.

Scrutiny · CIT(A) · ITAT ·

03

GST litigation & departmental representation

From SCN to appeal

Replies to show-cause notices, departmental representation, refund litigation, and appeals before the appellate authority and the GST Appellate Tribunal — with the documentation work that determines outcomes.

SCN · refund · appeal · audit defence

04

Mergers, acquisitions & restructuring

Buy-side & sell-side

Financial and tax due diligence, valuation support, scheme of arrangement work, share-purchase documentation and the post-deal integration of acquired businesses.

Due diligence · valuation · NCLT schemes · integration

05

Startup advisory, end-to-end

Incorporation through Series A

From incorporation through fundraising rounds: founder agreements, ESOP design, FEMA filings, investor due diligence, and the early-stage compliance that catches up with a young company if it is not done well.

Why work with us

Section 03

Four reasons clients stay for a decade.

01

Senior-led work

Engagements are led by the principal or a qualified CA associate from the first conversation. Junior staff support; they do not represent the firm.

One point of contact. One signature on the report.

02

Considered, not hurried

We accept work we can do well. Where deadlines compress, we ask early; we do not deliver work we are not prepared to defend.

Quality over volume.

03

Discretion as standard

Client information is handled with the confidentiality the work requires. We do not publish client names, case studies or referenced engagements.

No client lists. No name-dropping.

04

Long-term relationships

Most of our clients have been with the firm for more than five years. Annual audits, generational handovers, the second business — we are built for continuity.

98% client retention.

How we work

Section 04

A method that does not rush the difficult parts.

Step 01

Listen

We begin with a confidential conversation. Before we propose anything we want to understand the business, its constraints and what success looks like to you.

Step 02

Scope

A clear written engagement letter setting out what is and is not included, who will work on it, expected timeline, and what we will need from your team.

Step 03

Execute

Senior-led delivery against the agreed scope, with quiet checkpoints along the way. We surface issues early; we do not save them for the final meeting.

Step 04

Continue

Most engagements lead to an annual relationship. We remain available between filings — questions, second opinions, the occasional difficult conversation.

Industries
